Gallery - Sea Anemones
Daisy Anemone (Cereus pendunculatus)
This anemone is fairly common in the UK, especially on South and West coasts.
Parasitic anemone (Calliactis parasitica)
Despite it name, its relationship with its host, (normally a Hermit crab is the host) is symbiotic rather than parasitic.
Snakelocks Anemone (Anemonia viridis)
Unlike the Beadlet it cannot contract its tentacles and as a result it is more often found in pools.
Strawberry Anemone (Actinia fragacea)
Its common name fits it well for when it is left exposed it resembles a Strawberry attached to a rock. it occurs further down the shore than the Bedlet
Beadlet Anemone (Actinia equina)
This by far the commonest of our Anemones, can be red, brown and green
