In some years over a 100 may visit Britian but there is considerable variation in numbers from year to year. Very occasionally a pair remains in Britian for the summer and attempts to nest.Generally associated with warm climates. Breeds in valleys and lowland areas with low intensive agricultural land, open fields, pastures, grasslands and steppe with scattered trees and sometimes near open water.
