Field Grasshopper (Chorthippus brunneus)
Mostly found on dry and often sparse grassland.
Meadow Grasshopper (Chorthippus parallelus)
Brown or purple. A small bulge on front edge of forewing. Hindwings absent, the only flightless grasshopper in Britain.
Short-winged Conehead (Conocephalus dorsalis)
Likes marshes, river banks and other moist grassland. More active by day than by night, mainly coastal in Britain
Long-winged Conehead (Conocephalus discolor)
Resembles Short-winged Conehead but is fully winged and ovipositor is longer and nearly straight.
Dark Bush-cricket (Pholidoptera griseoaptera)
Light brown, through chestnut to almost black, but top of head always brown and underside of body always greenish yellow.
Great Green Bush Cricket (Tettigonia viridissima)
40-50mm. bright green with brown on top of head and at base of male front wing. Song loud, in long bursts.
Speckled Bush-cricket (Leptophyes punctatissima)
Densley speckled with very short forwings in both sexes.Superbly camouflaged on nettles,brambles and other vegetation.
